Week 1 Certification Review Plan

Learning Goal (identified from APEA-Pre-Predictor Exam): Improve my knowledge of respiratory function and diseases.

To enhance my understanding of respiratory function and diseases, I plan to undertake a series of focused learning activities. I will begin by completing respiratory-specific exams in the APEA myQbank, practicing consistently until I achieve a score of at least 85% or higher. In addition, I will thoroughly review the relevant sections in the Clinical Guidelines in Primary Care textbook to solidify my knowledge base. As a visual learner, I will also watch and take notes on all APEA Hollier videos related to respiratory topics. My preceptor will support my learning by guiding me through a detailed lung assessment at my clinical site. Finally, I will attend the on-ground FNP Intensive review, concentrating on respiratory issues during the sessions. My goal is to complete most of these activities by the end of week 5, with continued review throughout the course as needed.

Reflection:

By improving my respiratory evaluation and diagnostic abilities, I will be better equipped to make informed decisions regarding my patients' treatment. This knowledge will also enhance my communication with colleagues and allow me to detect subtle changes in my patients that I might not have recognized before. Ultimately, this focused study on respiratory health will significantly contribute to my success in the national certification exam and my development as a competent nurse practitioner.
